00:00:24: Of course this podcast is also available in German French Spanish and Italian.
00:00:30: links are in the description.
00:00:32: today we're talking about one of the biggest leverage points how to achieve more with less effort.
00:00:42: Because most people do the opposite, they learn a lot but not the right things.
00:00:49: so The problem is too much input Too little impact.
00:00:54: Many People Learn like this Lots of videos lots Of books lots of notes and still Not Much Sticks.
00:01:04: Why?
00:01:05: because they treat everything as equally important, but not everything is equal.
00:01:12: More input does NOT mean more results!
00:01:16: So here's the eighty-twenty principle – the Pareto Principle.
00:01:20: The idea is simple.
00:01:21: Twenty percent of content creates eighty percent of the result.
00:01:27: Let me give you some examples.
00:01:29: Twenty per cent vocabulary makes eighty percent conversations.
00:01:34: Isn't that great?
00:01:35: Twenty percent of grammar makes eighty percent of communication and twenty percent of tasks make eighty percent off exam results.
00:01:44: Now the real question is not what else can I learn but, What gives me the biggest return?
00:01:52: Look there are three types of knowledge.
00:01:56: let's have a look at them to prioritize better and distinguish between high impact core knowledge frequent, practical and directly usable.
00:02:10: Focus here!
00:02:12: Then we have supporting knowledge which is useful but not essential.
00:02:16: You can learn that later.
00:02:18: And then you have detailed knowledge rarely needed often too complex.
00:02:23: Learn it only when necessary.
00:02:26: So focus on impact Not on completeness.
00:02:32: The AT-E-Twenty strategy in praxis this how to apply Step one, define your goal.
00:02:39: What exactly do you want to be able to do?
00:02:42: Hold a conversation pass an exam give the presentation No go no priority.
00:02:48: That's The point.
00:02:50: if you got a restaurant and you don't know what you want two eat You can order.
00:02:55: Okay as long.
00:02:57: I saw a nice sign in a restaurant in the UK And it said As Long as you Know what you Want No, as long as you don't know what your want.
00:03:08: You are far away from getting it.
00:03:11: and that's the same.
00:03:11: no go-no priority step to identify high impact content.
00:03:17: ask yourself What appears most often?
00:03:20: What gives immediate value And what gets tested.
00:03:25: you can also have a look at exams From the past.
00:03:29: in many studies there is list of Past exams listed in the internet so you can have a focus.
00:03:40: look at that.
00:03:43: So let me give an example.
00:03:46: Oh, no first off step three.
00:03:48: sorry eliminate or postpone everything That's not relevant remove or delay it.
00:03:54: This is hard but essential.
00:03:56: now Let's take language learning as An example.
00:04:03: many people focused on rare words.
00:04:05: I mean if you have specific vocabulary that you need for your job.
00:04:11: Okay, but these are most frequently used words in your profession.
00:04:18: But rare words That you might read in a novel maybe and don't understand You look them up And want to remember them.
00:04:27: They just appear once or twice In the complete novel.
00:04:32: Never in real life Then...you don´t need to learn.
00:04:37: Also complex grammar.
00:04:39: There is a grammar that it's only used in writing, so if you want to become an author or write focus on complex grammar.
00:04:49: but If You Just Want To Speak With People In Everyday Life Or In Business Situations just relax.
00:04:56: and also advanced expressions!
00:04:59: C one is completely sufficient or even B two and for holiday purpose, Even b-one.
00:05:12: so the better approach.
00:05:14: Get there.
00:05:15: One thousand most common words.
00:05:17: if you want to know where you can find them go to the internet end type flash Cardo dot com.
00:05:25: There You will Find The Most.
00:05:27: The One Thousand Most Common Words For all Languages that I'm aware of.
00:05:32: also focus on common sentence patterns because you can create different sentences with the same beginning, the same structure and Focus on real life situations.
00:05:51: You don't need to learn all these Harry Potter special vocabulary like Muggle or like To denome The Garden and things Like that Because Nobody outside Harry Potter novels will understand and use that.
00:06:08: So the result, you start speaking faster if you just focus on these three points.
00:06:16: Another example exam preparation.
00:06:18: The wrong approach would be to read everything And highlight everything.
00:06:22: I mean then If want a color book.
00:06:26: We have lot of beautiful Mandala books On the internet.
00:06:31: You can purchase them at Amazon, if you just type author Andrea Weber Mandala then you will find many many mandala books that you can cover and highlight.
00:06:44: And there you can highlight everything with beautiful colors.
00:06:48: the better approach would be analyze past exams That's what I already mentioned.
00:06:54: identify recurring patterns and train specifically for those exam test patterns not randomness.
00:07:05: Now, if you live in an area where you know that drugs are a big problem and your training for medical or security profession then drugs will probably be part of your exam.
00:07:23: during COVID pandemics we had content because this was part of the game.
00:07:37: and Yes, if you are Trained as a firefighter.
00:07:45: I mean fire is probably very important part of your education.

00:08:00: Yeah So Maybe what might help us to stop doing list?
00:08:05: You know You have the to-do list, but you can also do that.
00:08:09: I don't do it anymore less.
00:08:11: It's not just about what you do its Also about what your What?
00:08:16: You stop doing so.
00:08:19: For example ask yourself what takes time But gives little return.
00:08:24: what Do i do?
00:08:26: justice feel productive very important point and What Can i remove?
00:08:32: And this saves enormous energy.
